Meet the Advisory Board Members

Dave Hembrough

Dave is a Sheffield Hallam University Research Fellow and founder of Mettle, with extensive experience in community sport, coach education and strength & conditioning. He works nationally to develop pathways for inclusive coaching and has been instrumental in shaping youth and community weightlifting programmes. His expertise in workforce development and grassroots sport aligns perfectly with Weights & Cakes’ mission to create meaningful opportunities for young people and communities through strength.

Abbi

Abbi has been a qualified social worker since 2002 and is registered with Social Work England. She has extensive safeguarding and legislative experience and understands the importance of multi-agency collaboration to secure positive outcomes for children and families. Abbi previously served as the Safeguarding Link School Governor at a primary school for six years, bringing a wealth of governance, safeguarding and community insight to the board.

Kellie Woods, LLB (Hons)

 

Kellie holds a first-class LLB (Hons) and a Level 7 Diploma in Paralegal Practice. She brings strong legal expertise, governance oversight and a sharp strategic eye to the board. Her background in legal practice ensures Weights & Cakes operates with robust policies and due diligence, supporting its transition to CIO status and long-term sustainability.

Katy Saunderson

Katy is a CEO of a local charity with significant experience in community leadership, partnership building and strategic development. She is passionate about creating inclusive spaces and driving impactful programmes that meet local needs. Her leadership background strengthens the board’s ability to influence local policy and advocate for community sport and wellbeing initiatives.

 

Rebecca Maw

 Rebecca is also a CEO of a local charity, with extensive experience in operational leadership, funding strategy and service delivery. Her understanding of the local landscape and commitment to community regeneration bring valuable insight to the board, helping guide Weights & Cakes’ growth, partnerships and funding strategies.

 

Pauline Hogarth

Pauline brings award-winning expertise in project and operations management from the North East Ambulance Service, with a proven track record in wellbeing, neurodiversity and inclusion. As Chair of Able@NEAS and Deputy Chair of the National Ambulance Disability Network, she drives national change in accessibility and staff support.
